macs are cool.

what.

you are impressed by the power under the hood of Mac OS X, and you want to develop native software applications for the platform. congratulations, you have evolved to human perfection. you'll need the following books:
  1. Programming in Objective-C (second edition, 2004) by Stephen G. Kochan

  2. Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X (second edition, 2004) by Aaron Hillegass

both books are available at bookstores or from amazon.com, used and new. they are all you need to buy to get started. you don't need to buy anything else -- you already have everything else you need! for one thing, you have a Macintosh computer running OS X, and your Mac OS X install disks give you everything you need to develop Mac software: IDE, compiler, Cocoa frameworks, etc. for another, you already have the desire to write native software applications for the Macintosh OS X platform. so with the two books, your computer, and the desire to write native software on the most ass-kicking operating system ever, you're good to go.
